How to Exercise in Vata Season (Fall & Winter)

In Ayurveda, when it’s cold, dry and windy outside, what do we need in the body? The opposite! This is the time of the year to exercise to create heat and replenishment in the body.

The first step to doing this is finding exercise that feels good to you. Something that feels nourishing, exciting, liberating, supportive.

Weight training? Dance? Jogging? Snow Shoeing? Yoga?

The next step is making sure that it feels good in the body too.

Is it warming rather than cooling?

Is it rebuilding your ojas, your immunity and vitality (your goddess essence) in the body?

Exercising in the winter months is crucial to a healthy immune system. We want the blood to keep circulating. We want our brains to be activated with the feel good hormones. We want our metabolisms and digestive systems to continue to function well.

Don’t forget to make sure it feels pleasurable, joyful and liberating.
